D. Krishna Murthi, the Director of Sri Jagadamba Sisu Vihar, Mysore worked in Dr. M.V. Gopalaswami’s Sisu Vihar for ten years and gained experience as a nursery school teacher. He has devised ingenious educational devices and methods of Nursery School education, and has evinced great interest in Nursery and Kindergarten methods.

Modern methods of child education were tried by him individually and collectively. He realized that the Kindergarten method is best suited to the socio-economic conditions of our country. Ingenious educational devices and tools were devised and put to use in his institution. He was not for strictness, coercion, goading or even direct teaching in the Nursery schools. His assertion was that “do’s and don’ts” found no place there. He was determined to take up Nursery School work as his mission in life.

Any muscular movement is a source of joy and delight for children. Picture story narration, dramatization and recitation of nursery rhymes are the main features of this institution. A great variety of activities are taught to promote physical , mental , moral and social talent in children. All efforts are made to cultivate and develop healthy habits which in the long run will become their intrinsic character. The nursery school activities will mould the potentialities of children on scientific lines. Gardening plays a prominent part here. At the back yard of the school a kitchen garden has been raised where the teachers work together and grow Indian and English vegetables and greens.
